Hi! I’m Brittany with Active Counseling and Therapy. I am a tele-therapist providing online/virtual services to folks in Oregon.
I'm an ambidextrous, but born a leftie!
I smile A LOT!
I am a retired educator/coordinator (Math, Science, and Special Education)
Some of my favorite things are:
color blue, but more like turquoise
dark chocolate
reading, singing, watching tv/movies
I graduated from Adams State University with an MA in School Counseling in 2022, but realized that long-term therapy, rather than school counseling is where my heart truly lies.
I am a:
Professional Counseling Associate in Oregon (R9647)
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois (#178.018551),
Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) in Texas (#95461)
Nationally Certified Counselor
School Counselor (TX & CO)
Life can be hard. School/work/life is just not what you thought it would be like. Add on to that relationships, family, friends, and other obligations that just seem to pile up. Tiny little things can become so big...sometimes they become so massive that it feels as though you'll never find your way through!
If this sounds like something you've experienced - it doesn't have to be this way. Finding someone to speak with, learning new skills, reflecting, and confronting our own thoughts can help!
As a born and raised Texan who has traveled and lived all over the world, I have connected with people of different backgrounds, religions, cultures, languages, and values. So, let me tell you, I would be thrilled to work with you so that you can take steps to live the life of your dreams.
The way you experience the world is different from others. Do you sometimes feel overstimulated and as if you are going to shut down? Do you want to learn ways to manage in a world of neurotypicals?
I have experience working with neurodiverse populations and am a passionate ally!
53-60 minute sessions once a week - creating a routine and carving out time when we are first starting to build a therapeutic relationship is so important. Plus, you may be able to see a decrease in your symptoms and an increase in your functioning if you put in the work often.
a non-judgmental, open-minded talking partner - I am just a part of your journey. Only you know what will ultimately work for you in your life. (Who knows you better than you! Am I right?!) Therefore, we will work together to determine how and why things aren't going as planned and how to get it all back on track so that you can start feeling and living your authentic life.
an honest, transparent, understanding, empathetic person. Be aware that I may also question, confront, and summarize. We are only human, so I may make mistakes. This isn't a one way street, it is a partnership. I will expect you to give feedback, question, and confront, but ultimately feel safe in doing hard work.
